We had the chance to speak with another one of our specialized consultants at Real Staffing. Germain Nienhaus is a QC Technician in the Pharmaceutical sector. From Aseptic Technician, to QA Specialist and QC Technician today, Germain has 8 year of experience in the industry. We discussed his career path, the projects he worked on and his collaboration with Real Staffing.
Can you tell us more about your experience and your career path?
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry from HELHa Mons. Following my graduation, I started my professional career in September 2015 at Takeda as an Aseptic Technician. Subsequently, I advanced to the position of Aseptic Senior Technician within the same team. My final role at Takeda was as an Aseptic Foreman. I transitioned to ThermoFischer to be closer to my family, where I worked in Quality Assurance for the filling department. I was later promoted to the position of QA Senior.
In January 2022, I joined Real Staffing. Initially, I undertook a 15-month mission at Exothera as a CQV Equipment Process Specialist. Following this assignment, I was on an intermission until the end of May. During this period, Real Staffing facilitated my participation in a training course on CSV (Computer System Validation). This training has proven invaluable in my current role at Telix Pharmaceuticals, where I serve as a QC Technician.
On which project are you working on currently and what are you main responsibilities?
I work for Telix Pharmaceuticals as a QC Technician in a radiopharmaceutical company. My day is punctuated by tasks such as qualifying equipment in the QC lab, writing SOPs, and drafting equipment and software qualification protocols. When I started working here, it was a greenfield project. Personally, I find this to be the best way to learn because everything has to be built from the ground up.
What do you like the most about your job?
I like to stay active every day and face many challenges in my job. This is exactly what I experience at Telix Pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, working for a company that is dedicated to finding cures for specific cancers is incredibly fulfilling. I truly feel like I'm making a meaningful contribution.
How has Real Staffing helped you regarding your career and your professional development?
My initial contact with Real Staffing was with David Ponsaerts. I received his phone number from a former colleague who assured me that it was a reputable company to work with. Real Staffing has significantly contributed to my professional development as I have undertaken two distinct missions that greatly expanded my areas of expertise.
The primary advantage of working through Real Staffing lies in personal development. I enhance my skills every day, and Real Staffing actively supports me through training and helps me find new missions to further broaden my knowledge base. For example, I found my current mission thanks to a training that was facilitated by Real Staffing.
How did your recruitment consultants at Real Staffing support you?
Nur and David have been instrumental in helping me find the perfect mission. I will become a father for the first time in February and I prefer to be close to my family. They managed to find me a mission near my home, which is of great importance to me. I truly appreciate being heard on this matter.
Why did you choose to work in the Pharma industry? What appealed to you?
I chose to begin my career in the pharmaceutical sector because I believe it has a profound impact on many people's lives. Currently on a mission at Telix Pharmaceuticals, I'm delighted to be contributing to the fight against cancer.
What are your next objectives regarding your career?
I'd like to continue improving myself and perhaps take on missions with greater responsibilities. I aim to further develop my skills in Quality Assurance, and my next mission may very well be in that department. I enjoy learning new skills, and I believe that the broader my skill set, the more versatile I will be in taking on different missions. This way, Real Staffing can position itself in more companies and foster new collaborations.
What advice would you give to someone that aspires to start his/her career in your industry/sector?
If everyone thinks it's impossible, try anyway. Fifty years ago, cancer meant an immediate painful death, and now some of them are being cured, and more and more every day. Yet it was said to be impossible to be cured.
