Every month, we take time to sit down with various consultants across our Life Sciences business. Recently we spoke with Executive Consultant Dylan Devore. We discussed the current and future trends he’s been noticing within southern California’s clinical quality assurance market.
Here is what Dylan had to say.
What trends have you noticed in your market currently?
“Clinical Quality Assurance hiring completely stopped during season 1 of the pandemic. However, as clinical trials began to re-enroll patients, a complete hiring boom has caused the market demand for these GCP professionals to skyrocket.”
What are the current job demands in your market?
“The California market is demanding GCP QA professionals at every level. The supply is extremely low, and the demand for this skillset is very high. Based on our talent insights, just 3% of individuals in the Quality market have a true GCP QA focus making this one of the most candidate-driven verticals in the pharma industry.”
Why is Real Staffing Group the best specialist staffing firm to work with?
“My business is built on relationships. I’m not a scientist, and I can’t help you build your quality systems, so the best way I can add value is to provide my candidates and clients access to my network. The consultant you’re working with has probably had coffee with the C-suite of the company you’re interested in or frequently uses dorky emojis with the top candidate in the interview process. Being a bridge and acting as a trusted source helps create meaningful connections between candidates and organizations. Having a business built on personality and market expertise is something that most agencies can’t compete with.”
What value do we provide to our clients?
“Real is able to provide our clients highly-detailed insight on where tough to find QA, QC, and GCP candidates are, where nuances lie in the market, and how to remain competitive in your current search. Beyond just making introductions, we’re a true partner for our clients. I’m here to share market news, explore hiring trends, assist in writing job descriptions, and remember your dog’s birthday.”
What tips would you give a candidate who wants to land their dream job?
“Make sure to use LinkedIn wisely! Bragging about yourself is something that I hope you don’t do too much, but during your job hunt, toot that horn. Fill your LinkedIn with keywords that help emphasize your experience and skillset. Don’t be afraid to list every inspection you’ve been part of or each global regulatory agency you’ve worked with. These specificities help recruiters and employers match jobs to your background.”
How are you making a difference in the life sciences industry?
“Everybody in life sciences makes up a small but vastly important piece of a large puzzle. I’m not one of these puzzle pieces, and I can’t take credit for the work anybody does; however, I’ve been given the opportunity to help connect these pieces. The ability to connect individuals within my network who may have never been able to find each other is a great way to add value to the industry.”
