Recently we had the opportunity to sit down with Senior Executive Consultant Corinne Wilcox. We discussed the current and future trends she's been noticing within the Program & Alliance Management, Medical Writing & Biometrics market in San Diego.

Here is what Corinne had to say.

What trends have you noticed in your market currently?

"Companies that are offering permanently remote positions are the ones filling their jobs faster and attracting top talent. At this point, candidates have gotten a taste of working remotely, and most of them have been more successful. Because of this, they don't want to go back into the office even if they live in the same city as their company.

Candidates are choosing remote over compensation, benefits, pipeline, etc. It's a luxury to work remotely, and the companies that are enforcing their employees to be onsite after the pandemic are experiencing turnover."

What are the current job demands in your market?

"There's always a high demand for medical writers, but even more so lately. Companies are aggressively hiring because of the pandemic – especially if they're working on a COVID initiative. They are looking for in-house medical writers to be with the company long-term."

Why is Real Staffing the best specialist staffing firm to work with?

"I was recruited for this position at Real Staffing. My recruiter was there for me every step of the way; she was knowledgeable, accessible, communicative, and I genuinely felt like she had my best interest at heart. Because of my successful experience, I see the value in working with a fantastic recruiter, and I want my candidates and clients to feel the same way."

What value do we bring clients?

"We encourage our clients to come to us for more than just staffing needs. If they have questions about salary, job descriptions, references, market trends, etc. – we can help. We keep in touch with our clients regularly to show that we are always here. We pride ourselves on making sure each role we work on is successful and that each candidate we place is a long-term placement."

What tips would you give a candidate who wants to land their dream job?

"If you believe in yourself, they will believe in you. As important as it is to answer all the technical questions in an interview, it's just as essential to build rapport-- sometimes even more critical. Don't be afraid to let the conversation get off-topic and be scared to show you want the position."

How are you making a difference in the life sciences industry?

"Whether it's a high-level placement or an entry-level opportunity, I am always looking for candidates that will make an impact. These candidates are such a vital part of the drug development process."
